A Very British Breakfast

On a recent trip to New York, Matilda joined forces with the inimitable Kate Berry to host breakfast for friends old and new, the MG&Co. way. On the menu: boiled eggs and soldiers served up on our egg cup plates, homemade quince jam, freshly squeezed orange juice and - of course - pots of coffee. Read on for Matilda's design process and top hosting tips.

Fuss-free

FURNITURE

Styling a space from afar can be difficult so we enlisted the help of US based furniture rental brand ZZ Driggs who were able to work with our plans and offer stylish design-led pieces.

Shop the look: in the kitchen, Vintage Red Stools; the dining toom, Teal Metal Chairs & Vitra Chairs; the sitting room, Woven Chairs in white and blue.

Window Dressing:

OUR HANDY HACK

We had to be creative in ways to temporarily dress the space, while still providing impact. Cue a handy blinds hack - thanks to suction cups and velcro, we were able to fix blinds without adding in hooks or a rail.

"I started by drawing on top of a photo of the space to play with proportions - something I often do as a quick solution - and then practiced the set up at home on my windows before backing them off. " - Matilda

Eggs and soldiers

With Flynn McGarry

Chef Flynn McGarry brought our quintessential British breakfast to life. We kept it simple with boiled eggs and soldiers served up on egg cup plates with rainbow cutlery.

The details: eggs were loaded into vintage wire baskets, with Clam Shells spotted around the room housing fresh veg and sea salt. Twist tumblers and carafes were on hand for drinks, alongside Trellis planters filled with Dahlias from the flower market.
